Kindertransports - summary and thoughts

summary:
In early december 1938, the first train left Berlin. Everyone was scared, and it was like a nightmare. This resulted in over 1000 children escaped from Germany.

One of the girls named Ruth lived with her family in
Czechoslovakia. Her parents told her and her sister, that they was going to England, just for the weekend. And she believed her parents, but her sister didn't.

The other girl told us that her mother
in silence said to her that everything was going to be fine. She also said that everyone cried and screamed. When they were in the train, everyone wanted to sit by the window and say goodbye.

The third child was a boy. He said that he still could se the trainstation in front of him. He could also se his mother and friend, that waved goodbye to him. Children cried every night, cause thet missed treir mothers and the rest of their family. Some children didn't even spoke
English, but almost everyone got to se their mother's again. More than 10 000 jews got sawed because of the kindertransport.

Thoughts:
I did almost start to cry when I heard what everyone had going through. I'm not an expert about the second world war, and I don't know
especially much about it, but I think it's really sad, and i can't even imagine what the little kids' were going through.

I thought like, what if it was war in Sweden, rigth now. How much would our life's change then? And I guess life would be really different then, and I guess our personalities would chance a little too. Am I right?

In the middle of the story, there was a sound like "tuuut tuuut". But a little bit more
realistic. And it really got me thinking about a movie I saw when I was little. I can't remember which one it was, but I can see the scen in front of me. But since I didn't remenber which movie it was. I thought about Oliver Twist, I don't know why but maybe it a scen with a train in, that makes me think of that.

  1. You show me that you have understood the podcast about kinder transports and that you can express your thoughts about what you have heard. In the end you write that you came to think about Oliver Twist. It would have been really interesting if you would have understood why you came to think about him.

    Please note:
    I almost started to cry...
